Wat Pho is known as Wat Phra Chetuphon, and as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, an image that depicts the Buddha’s passing into Nirvana. The gold-plated Reclining Buddha is 46 metres long and 15 metres high. The eyes and feet are decorated with mother-of-pearl. Carvings in the feet depict the 108 characteristics of Buddha. The temple is a centre of Thai traditional massage. A regular massage costs 250 baht an hour, while a herbal hot compress massage costs 350 baht an hour. A 30-hour Thai traditional massage course can be completed in 10 to 15 days for about 4,500 baht.
